Glögg (Mulled Wine)

This yummy recipe came from one of our super fans - Dave J. of San Diego. This will warm you from the inside out on chilly nights. This recipe Makes about 100 oz, so you can share with friends!

Glugg

Ingredients

  • 1/2 gal burgundy wine
  • 1/2 qt brandy
  • 6 oz vodka
  • 6 oz Cointreau or triple sec. , you can sub capt morgan spiced rum
  • 4 oz dry sherry
  • 4 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 tbs angostura bitters
  • 1 tbs all spice
  • 4 small cinnamon sticks
  • 4 orange slices with the centers cut out
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 2 tbs "Therabee Honey"  

Directions

Put all ingredients in a large pot, simmer 45 min. (Tasting this simmering brew while simmering  is a requirement!)

You can add something here and there to fine tune it to taste! 

Strain into container (I use an empty gallon wine jug).

Let sit overnight. Reheat and serve. I serve from a large crock pot.  Serve about 3 oz in a cup. You can add a few raisins in cup bottom.

    OMG! The real stuff! Being a good Scandinavian I used to use the bottled mix from Denmark. But this recipe has more alcohol in it. I’ll bet it’s good. Seeing how the temps have been in Oslo for the last 3 or 4 months I’ll bet this is made more often than Christmas time. Gotta try it.
